The cannabis market in Israel has attracted large names in recent years, from prime ministers, ministers, and former police and army commanders to businessmen, scientists, actors and athletes.

The appointment of those to senior positions in Israeli cannabis companies excited investors and raised the value of their shares.

However, at least in some cases, it is not clear whether these celebrities bring with them relevant professional knowledge that contributes to those companies, or simply lend them the 'brand' which is their name.

In any case, many of them are paid millions of shekels a year for a small job, in companies that still do not actually earn from cannabis sales.

Orit Noked - The Agriculture Minister and former Knesset member was appointed 2018 in November as an external director of the company, Capital Holdings, which merged with cannabis Cannbit.
